2020 Summer Day Camp

Welcome Future Aviator!

The 1940 Air Terminal Museum will offer 2 summer day camps on Thursday, July 23 or Thursday, August 13. The camp will run from 9am-4pm and is recommended for children ages 8-12. The camp will explore the history of aviation and take a close look at all of the various ways aviation is used in everyday life. Camp class size will be limited to a maximum of 10 students and several guidelines will be in place to ensure a safe and healthy space.

Here are some of the highlights of the camp:

  • Learn about the history of aviation

  • Aircraft walk-around conducted by the Civil Air Patrol

  • Trivia contest

  • Virtual simulator experience

  • Field trip to an aviation facility (located within a 5-10 minute walking/driving distance from museum)

Dates
July 23, 2020 and August 13, 2020. Camp will run from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Cost
$50 per student / $45 for members. Recommended for ages 8-12

Day Camp Social Distancing Guidelines

Campers

  • Camp registration will be limited to 10 campers per class.

  • Parents will not enter the camp area for pick-up and drop-off. Sign-in and sign-out will occur at the museum entrance.

  • Campers will wear masks consistent with museum policy at the time of camp.

  • Camper temperatures will be taken at sign-in. Campers with a temperature over 100.0 will not be allowed in camp.

  • Generally, campers will have their own workspace at a safe distance from other campers. During activities that require group work, they will work in small groups with the same children throughout the day.

  • Hand washing, use of sanitizer, and disinfecting wipes will be available and used routinely.

  • Campers must bring their own lunches.

  • All camps include field trips and will follow all implemented safety guidelines. If determined that group travel or social distancing guidelines cannot be safely executed, virtual field trips will be conducted at the museum.

Museum Staff

  • Staff will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms and temperatures taken before the start of camp. If symptoms or a temperature over 100.0 are present, the staff member will be sent home and camp parents notified.

  • Staff will disinfect camp areas throughout the day. Shared equipment, such as flight simulators, will be disinfected between uses. Regular museum cleaning will also be consistent with museum policy.

  • Staff will wear masks consistent with museum policy at the time of camp.

Parents

  • Please note there is an enhanced risk of campers being in direct contact with anyone age 65 or older for 14 days after the end of the camp session.

Refund Policy
Full refunds will be issued for any reason if the request is made prior to 14 days before the camp. Within 14 days of the first day of camp, and during camp, if a child is removed, a 50% refund will be issued.
